In 2023, urged by my husband to start a small business to get out some creative energy, I started Blossom's Beauty. I remembered learning soap making from my grandmother on her farm in the Shenandoah Valley where she taught me to gather the ashes, used as lye, then mix it with the water and oils, usually lard. The soap she taught me to make was very harsh on the skin, but it would get ya clean. I love the chemistry behind soap making. I love learning which oils have different fatty acids that lend different properties to soap. I use coconut oil (Lauric, Myristic and Palmitic Acids) to increase hardness and cleanliness, olive oil (Oleic, Palmitic and Linoleic Acids) for solubility, and castor oil (Oleic Acid) for a good lather and extra moisture. I use a blend of 6 different oils to balance cleanliness with moisture.
All of my products are All Natural and Plant Based. I locally source dried flowers and plants from avid gardeners to infuse oils and to add to my products. I strive to blend the beauty of nature with the importance of self care.
